San Diego -- As the Lunar New Year kicks off this week, the Scott Peters for Congress campaign proudly announces the names of several Chinese-American community leaders – Democrats and Republicans – backing Peters’ re-election.

“Asian-American business owners, educators, students, and families are an integral part of San Diego’s diverse cultural make up; we are fortunate to have their strong contributions to our region,” Peters said. “It’s been my honor to represent this community in Congress, and I am grateful for the support of these and other outstanding civic leaders.” 

Peters, who is serving in his second term in U.S. House of Representatives, is a member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. Chinese-American leaders backing his re-election are below. (Partial list. Titles for identification purposes only):

Congressman Scott Peters represents California’s 52nd Congressional District, which encompasses the cities of Poway, Coronado and most of San Diego. He is in his second-term in Congress and currently serves on the House Armed Services and Judiciary Committees. Scott was three times chosen “Elected official of the Year” by BIOCOM for his work to create San Diego’s biotech jobs of the future, and was recently named one of the most independent members of Congress by Congressional Quarterly. Peters, a Democrat, is backed by organizations from across the political spectrum, including teachers, police officers, nurses, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
