During National Nurses Week and on National School Nurses Day, Rep. Peters announced that the American Nurses Association (ANA) is backing his campaign for reelection.

“Nurses are on the frontlines of our healthcare system caring for patients and improving wellness,” Peters said. “The American Nurses Association has been a strong voice for safer staffing levels at Veterans Administration hospitals so our veterans get the care they deserve. They’ve also fought for better education and training for registered nurses to improve patient care. I am proud to have their support, and we will continue working together to increase access to quality, affordable healthcare.”

The American Nurses Association is the country’s largest nurses organization, representing 3.4 million registered nurses. Congressman Peters and his staff have worked with the ANA on funding for Title VIII nursing workforce development programs, which play a critical role in training and recruiting nurses, as well as safe staffing ratios at hospitals, home healthcare planning, and veterans’ healthcare.

In a letter announcing the endorsement, the ANA said, “Rep. Peters has been a champion for nurses and has made a commitment to lowering health care costs and protecting Medicare.”
