Congressman Peters’ Statement on Staff Health Benefits

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement regarding the health benefits of his staff, based both in Washington, D.C., and San Diego:

“All of my staff will participate in the exchanges, without exception. Despite reports that individual offices may determine the health care options for their staffs, I believe that my staff should enter the exchanges as was the initial intent of the law. This is consistent with my strong belief that Members of Congress and our staff should abide by the same rules as all Americans.”

In addition to declining his pension benefit upon entering Congress, Congressman Peters also does not accept the employer health coverage benefit from the House of Representatives.
