Scott Peters to March with San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council to Commemorate Cesar Chavez Day
San Diego, CA – Tomorrow, March 31, 2012, will mark the 85th anniversary of the birth of labor leader Cesar Chavez. To commemorate this anniversary, the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council is hosting the Fifth Annual Cesar Chavez Day March. Endorsed candidate for the 52nd Congressional District Scott Peters will be joining the estimated 1,000-plus union members taking to the streets of downtown San Diego to march in solidarity and honor the legacy of the great labor leader, Cesar Chavez.
"Tomorrow, we celebrate the life and achievements of Cesar Chavez, a great leader and defender of working families. To help commentate what would have been his 85th birthday, I will be walking with the brothers and sisters of the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council, as well as many of their affiliates and others in Cesar Chavez Park (located at 1449 Cesar E. Chavez Parkway in downtown San Diego). I would like to ask every San Diegan who supports working families to join me in commemorating the life of a truly great labor leader. The march begins at 10:00 a.m. and will last until 1:00 p.m.
I am proud to share this occasion with the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council, the Chicano Democratic Association, Assemblymember Ben Hueso, former Assemblymember Mary Salas, Chula Vista City Councilman Steve Castaneda, and so many others who've endorsed my campaign to stand up for working families and advocate for the fair and decent treatment of every American. They have shown their faith in me that when elected to represent the 52nd Congressional District, I will reflect the same values that Cesar Chavez fought for and get Washington working for all of San Diego for a change!"
