In a year's time

Today is Election Day for people all over our nation. And on a day like this, I can't help but reflect on the importance of Election Day and what the right to vote means to us as Americans.

I also can't help but think about next year's election and why I'm running for Congress. Washington has never been more dysfunctional and like many of you, I think it's time we elected new leaders who will take a common sense approach to fixing what is broken. We need leaders who will work to find creative solutions to our problems, instead of just more partisan bickering.

While there aren't any elections today in San Diego County, I am asking you to do something to support our right to vote, whether it's making calls on behalf of a cause or a candidate, even in another state, writing a check to support something you believe in, or simply flying an American flag outside your home.

Today, we need to remind one another of the precious gift of voting and how essential that right is to our way of life. Thanks for your continued support.
