Subject: A message to my supporters
As you may know, I entered the race to represent California's 50th Congressional District and unseat Brian Bilbray before the final district boundaries were determined. The new California 52nd district for which Brian Bilbray will be running is much more competitive than the old 50th, and the new boundaries have brought in other Democratic candidates. Unfortunately, a hotly contested primary between Democratic candidates would only benefit one person -- Brian Bilbray. I am of the firm belief that Brian Bilbray will not represent the 52nd district in a way that is beneficial to the people of San Diego, so I have decided to drop out of the race. My decision is based on what I believe is best for the constituents of the district.
Although my campaign ends here, I will be supporting former City Council President and present Chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners, Scott Peters. I hope you will join me in supporting Scott so we can send the right representation to Washington.
Thank you for your support over the last several months. I could not have made it this far without you, and am heartened by the outpouring of help and kind words that I have received.
All the best,
