Last week, I announced my candidacy to represent California's 52nd Congressional District. The outpouring of support, including my endorsement last week from Bob Nascenzi, has been tremendous so far and I've been very encouraged. Thanks to you, news about my campaign is spreading around San Diego and offers of help are coming from every corner of the district.
Today we learned even more about the growing national frustration with Congress. According to an article from today's Politico, a survey released yesterday by Public Policy Polling backs up a national trend showing weakening support for the direction Congress is taking. And that frustration is certainly shared here in San Diego.
"In California's 52nd Congressional District, only 42% of voters would like to reelect Brian Bilbray, while 51% would prefer someone else. Just 39% have a favorable opinion of Republicans in Congress, with 53% holding a negative one."
The people of this district are looking for our leaders to solve problems and get things done. That's the record I will bring, and I need your help to really get things going.
Here's what you can do. First, forward this email to five of your friends and ask them to sign up for email updates. Next, sign up to volunteer. Last, if you haven't already done so, please contribute $5, $10, or $20 to help fund our campaign.
We're going to need every phone call, every house party, every yard sign, and every contribution to show our strength and bring our message to the voters of this district. And we need to grow our network if we seriously want to challenge the incumbent and bring a change next November.
Thanks again for your support,
